What are Can-C eye drops?

Can-C eye drops are non-invasive, anti-oxidant eyedrops that contain N-acetylcarnosine. They have been proven to gently and effectively halt and reverse the progression of cataracts helping to restore your vision without the need for expensive surgery. The formula used has been approved and patented by Innovative Vision Products, who developed the technology behind this breakthrough in cataract treatment. N-acetylcarnosine acts as a natural and powerful anti-oxidant but administered in the form of Can-C it is safe enough and gentle enough to be applied directly into your eyes.

How do Can-C eye drops work?

Can-C contains N-acetylcarnosine - a form of carnosine. Carnosine naturally occurs in the body. As it is composed of two amino acids - histidine and alanine - carnosine is referred to as a di-peptide. Extensive research into the action of carnosine has shown that it plays an important role in the prevention of glycation which is known to be one of the root causes of the formation of cataracts.
Carnosine also acts as a powerful anti-oxidant and as such can provide protection against free radical damage. Free radical damage has also been heavily implicated heavily in the development of cataracts.
But it can't be any form of carnosine that is used - research has shown that it is the N-acetylcarnosine form of carnosine (as contained in Can-C eye drops) that is crucial in the treatment of cataracts. This is because N-acetylcarnosine acts as a "carrier" of carnosine enabling it to be delivered directly into the aqueous humor of the eye (the fluid surrounding the lens). N-acetylcarnosine is also known to be highly resistant to carnosinase, a naturally occurring enzyme that breaks down L-carnosine into histamine etc.

What scientific research is there on Can-C?

The use of N-acetylcarnosine in the ophthalmic formulation used by Can-C has been investigated in patients with the specific aim of reversing cataracts in order to avoid the need for surgery by the leading researcher in this field Dr Mark Babizhayev and his team from the Moscow Helmholtz Research Institute of Eye Diseases. Dr Babizhayev is also the driving force behind Innovative Vision Products Inc which has patented and approved the formulation used by Can-C.

Dr Babizhayev and his fellow researchers carried out a controlled clinical trial involving 110 eyes. Sixty eyes were allocated to the group that received the eye drop treatment twice daily. Thirty eyes formed a control group and received a placebo eye drop. The remaining 20 eyes did not receive any treatment at all. The eyes were evaluated at the start of the study and then at 2 monthly intervals for a total period of six months. The results were amazing after six months of treatment 96% of the treated eyes showed improvement with the most striking results being in eyes that had been suffering from age related cataracts. These results are even more incredible in view of the fact that up until this point the only treatment available for cataracts was surgery. This study proved out the treatment's efficacy and at last there really is an alternative to cataract surgery for your cataracts.

The study also revealed a new phenomenon - an effect that has been described as "melting snow". After only 1 month of treatment the reversal of the cataracts in the eyes could be observed starting from the periphery with the affected lenses gradually becoming more transparent. The break-up of the impaired proteins that were causing the cataracts was clearly visible - the" melting snow" effect. This reversal of the cataracts was accompanied by improved visual behaviour of the eye.

Are there any side effects?

Not only is Can-C remarkable in that can avoid the need, the worry and the expense of going through the trauma of cataract surgery, it appears to be amazingly well tolerated with most people exhibiting no side effects whatsoever.
